Carrying the Consequences
NHS
In 2021 West Yorkshire Police recorded 104 stabbings across Yorkshire where the victim was under 18. Yorkshire Ambulance Service needed to find a way to tap into these young minds, so this film went into schools and community centres across Yorkshire, focusing on the region's most deprived areas.
The film puts the viewer in the shoes of Callum, a young lad who is struggling; bullied, alone and afraid for his own safety. It shows how easy it is to convince yourself that carrying a knife is OK, and how quickly that one decision can destroy your life.
This was our first 180° film, moving on from 360°, and it tested us from day one. The brand new Canon 180° camera we had planned to shoot on didn't arrive, so we built our own custom stereoscopic rig made from two 360° cameras, with extensive R&D behind it to get the 3D right. Along with an SFX heavy stabbing sequence and a last minute recast that led us to an incredible actor, it became one of the most demanding productions we have taken on.
It was also one of the most rewarding, with a successful rollout to the young people it was made for.
